O’BRIEN
After reviewing his options for the last month, former Boston University power forward Jake O’Brien confirmed that he will in fact transfer to Temple University.
The story was first reported by Chris DiSano at College Chalktalk and laterconfirmed by CBS Sports.
The 6-8 power forward is from Weymouth, Massachusetts.
O’Brien already graduated from Boston University and is allowed to play immediately for the Owls. His reason for departure is that the America East Conference banned Boston University from the 2013 conference tournament because BU is exiting the conference for the Patriot League next summer.
Before suffering a broken foot 14 games into 2010-2011 season that also cost him last season, O’Brien was averaging 10.9 points per game while pulling down 5.5 rebounds per contest.
O’Brien brings some size to a Temple lineup that lost center, Micheal Eric due to graduation and gives coach Fran Dunphy more flexibility in the paint and a solid post presence, showing that he can also step back and shoot from the outside.
O’Brien joins a front court that currently consists of senior Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson and sophomore Anthony Lee, and will most likely come off the bench for the Cherry and White.
